B.W. Furlong & Associates is an equine veterinary practice headquartered in Oldwick, NJ. The practice employs 14 veterinarians that practice in the Northeast, as well as 3 that practice in Florida and Virginia under the name Peak Performance Equine Services. It is an extremely fast-paced and busy practice, serving and caring for some of the most prestigious clientele in the country. The main practice consists of a full service ambulatory division, as well as a 4 acre facility that houses a full service 12 stall hospital, stallion collection station, lab, and advanced imaging capabilities. It also has separate properties that include a standing MRI and a rehabilitation center. Furlong’s Healthy Horse is a prescription fulfillment program focused on simplifying the pharmaceutical needs of clients and patients. Employees of the company are all expected to demonstrate the core beliefs.

Responsibilities

  • Service existing customer orders via email, phone, and web
  • Submit orders to distribution by referring to price and sourcing lists
  • Develop & implement marketing strategies to increase customer base
  • Input daily invoices, recommend adjustments in pricing accordingly, and pay bills
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations to management
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, services, merchandising techniques, etc, and make recommendations to management on action to take
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, etc
  • Provide monthly and weekly reports to management regarding sales, trends, and historical comparisons

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills: over the phone, written, and in person
  • Positive and enthusiastic manner in communicating with clients and an attitude to ensure that each client feels he/she is the highest priority client
  • Experience working in sales or a customer-service industry is preferred
  • Creative mindset to generate new sales, clients, and continued growth of the business
  • Comfort generating/creating/manipulating reports in Excel
  • Ability to work independently and thoroughly
  • Familiarity working in Quickbooks is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of equine medications is preferred but not required

Hours are Monday-Friday, 9a-5p. Benefits include competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience, 401K, profit sharing, Health Insurance, and discounted veterinary services and products. This position will be eligible for remote work upon completion of training in Oldwick, NJ and demonstrated ability to work independently. Employee will need to come into the office weekly to collect/file invoices, pack boxes when short on staff, etc.
