B.W. Furlong and Associates, in business for over 30 years, is an exclusively equine practice located in the countryside of northwestern New Jersey. We are made up of eleven full-time veterinarians, who are members of the American Association for Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the New Jersey Association for Equine Practitioners (NJAEP). The vet staff includes a board certified internal medicine specialist and access to two on-call board certified surgeons. Our team offers a wealth of experience and diligence, allowing us to provide clients and patients with the very best in veterinary care.
The clinic consists of office space and a hospital. The office contains a laboratory, pharmacy, conference room, digital image archives, and office space for our vets and support staff. The 15 stall hospital allows us to provide care for a multitude of medicine and surgery cases on site. There are intensive care stalls for adults and neonates, a separate isolation unit, and diagnostic and treatment areas for in-patient and ship-in cases. There is a surgical suite with a padded recovery room that enables us to complete a number orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries. Our practice uses the latest technologies to aid in diagnosis and treatment of our patients, including a standing MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiography, and video endoscopy and gastroscopy. Shockwave therapy is provided in clinic or on an ambulatory basis.
Pre-purchase exams and lameness evaluations make up a large part of the case load of our veterinary team. Our facility has an all-weather jog strip, lunging ring, and climate controlled areas, where digital imaging and nerve blocks are performed to complete pre-purchase exam. A lameness locator can be used in difficult cases. We offer many options in regenerative medicine, including laser treatment, IRAP, PRP, and stem cell.
Equine MRI of NJ is located across the street, and provides a standing MRI unit. A farrier station and a reproductive services unit, including an area for stallion collection, are adjacent to the MRI unit.
B.W. Furlong & Associates has satellite offices in Wellington and Ocala, Florida, and Virginia. The ambulatory services of the practice primarily cover New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Maryland. Our ambulatory caseload includes extensive sport horse, show horse, and pleasure horse work, with a wide range of services offered.
